Our Story
Welcome to Dandelie
We are sisters, Jeanne and Isabelle. Dandelie was created from our shared passion for vintage fashion, lasting style, and the kind of boots you never want to take off.
Growing up in the countryside of Groningen, in the north of the Netherlands, we were surrounded by wildflowers, open blue skies, and quiet roads. Our love for footwear and apparel was shaped by nature, nostalgia, our mother, and the thrill of discovering hidden gems. Long before Dandelie came to life, we were already collecting vintage women's boots and clothes for fun. Over time, that passion grew into a bigger and bolder vision. Something more meaningful.
Wanderlust
We believe fashion is meant to tell a story, feel personal, and playful. That is why Dandelie was inspired by the life cycle of the dandelion flower. After blooming, its seeds drift through the wind to find new places to grow. It is a symbol of freedom, resilience, and movement, values that are deeply rooted in our brand. Like those seeds, each of our pieces is on its own journey, from its original maker or era to your wardrobe, where it can bloom again.
Creating Dandelie
In 2021, we began shaping a vision for Dandelie. We set out to work with manufacturers and suppliers who care about ethics, sustainability, and premium quality materials. We first shared our unique boots on Instagram, and after feeling the love for our products and support for our vision, we launched Dandelie as a brand in 2022.
Every pair of our leather boots is designed, styled, and brought to life by us. The process taught us how much time and detail it takes to run a women-led small business, but as sisters, we are happy to do it together.
First drop and first photoshoot
Our very first drop featured the Flower Boots and the Blossom Boots in camel and beige, and our clogs. These are three styles that still reflect our signature aesthetic and guide our designs.
We organised our first photoshoot in the summer of 2021. It was exciting and a little chaotic, as we quickly learned how much work hides behind the effortless images we admired on Pinterest, from styling and lighting to countless tiny details. The photos from that day may feel a bit raw, but they are filled with heart, and they remind us of how far we have come.
Growing Dandelie
Now Dandelie has become the place where our favorite things are brought together: handcrafted boots, vintage clothing, and thoughtful, sustainable design. Every item is carefully designed or selected. Each piece has a story. We work with small suppliers and artisans whenever we can, and we are committed to growing in a sustainable, mindful, and creative way. Alongside our signature handcrafted leather boots, you will now also find handmade lammy waistcoats, original homeware, and leather handbags, each crafted with the same love for artistry and sustainability.
